Our Proposed Two-Year Plan
What we want to achieve:
- Organize a representative function to launch our ‘Two Year Plan.’
- Discuss the notion of this plan with the Principal.
- Set the date and activities for a formal launch of our ‘Two Year Plan’.
- Maintain current activities and programs such as:-
- All current class Reunions
- Annual Memorial Mass
- Annual Dinner
- Involvement in Anzac Day Celebrations
- Produce Signum Fidei both in print and on our web site.
New Initiatives proposed to include:
- Conducting a ‘Family Day at Nudgee’ for the families of old boys. The aim would be to use appropriate facilities at the College to provide the opportunity for whole family gatherings and activities at a suitable time of the year.
- Plan and organize 2 gatherings to be known as 'Friday after work Drinks'. Two such gatherings to be organized in the CBD and one at the Gold Coast for 2010
- Liaise with the College to publish our web information on the College’s new server.
- Establish a network between college personnel and the old boys to share our information and reports to the maximum and mutual advantage of both College and old boys.
- Increase membership on the old boys Executive through seeking to increase the number of Vice Presidents by approaching representative from each of the year groups involved in Reunions for a particular year to join the Executive.
- Have Executive meet less frequently but with the extra members not being required to attend all meetings but rather to establish sub-groups to handle specific areas.
- Mount a strong campaign to have all old boys with mobile phones provide us with that number.
- Establish a contact in most significant localities to gather information/stories for publication as well as planning for reunions and checks of addresses and personnel in their particular areas.
Perceived Priorities of our Two Year Plan as seen by members of the NCOBA Executive

Incoming President, Dr Simon Carter (1974-78), the son of Harry Carter who was President of the NCOBA from 1986-88 is well qualified to speak about his aims for our association. Simon’s son Harry is currently a student at Nudgee with Jack to come in 2010.
Simon says that if he had to nominate one overriding priority to be addressed and achieved through our ‘Two Year Plan’ it would be an increase in networking opportunities for younger old boys and including old boys’ families in those opportunities. Maintaining a connection with the great sense of mateship developed at Nudgee and introducing that to partners and children is a significant goal for me. |

Tony Gleeson (1985-89) is the Secretary of the Association. He and Simon Carterare very much in tune with the contemporary ethos and the vested traditions of Nudgee and the Old Boys’ Association.
Tony expresses his priority for our plan when he says, “I am very keen to improve on our networking in the CBD, other work centres, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Townsville. A couple of well organised after work functions in these areas next year will be a particular target of mine. The idea is for less formal events, which will provide a base for better interaction and networking. |

Tony Behm (1961-64), Secretary (2003-04), Vice President (2005-06), and President (2007-10). Our out-going President is well qualified to suggest actions which would be desirable goals for inclusion in our ‘Two Year Plan’. He describes his top priority for this planning as follows…” I said when I was elected as President of the NCOBA that when one considers the Presidents who have gone before and the challenges they faced, there is no doubt that the foundations they laid for the NCOBA are as strong as ever. It was then, and remains my number one priority now, viz, that we need to ensure those foundations remain intact for the current and future Nudgee Old Boys. I believe a strong and vibrant Old Boys Association will guarantee that those foundations are constant into the future. The links between the NCOBA and the College are crucial to the future of the Nudgee community to ensure that our association continues as an integral part of Nudgee life. |

Lawrie Cusack (1947-50) Lawrie has held the positions of Secretary (1986-97) and (2004-08), Vice President (1998-99), President (2000-01). He continues as a member of the Association’s Executive. He is the Registrar of the Association. During that time he has planned and organized the Annual Memorial Mass, the writing of letters to the families of deceased old boys and Members of the Nudgee Family, together with the conduct of the 60 year reunion. Lawrie is certainly qualified to speak with authority regarding the traditional strengths and future aims of our association. His perceived priority for our ‘Two Year Plan’ is:

Neville Clifford (1956-57) is currently Treasurer and therefore a member of Executive. Nev has been Treasurer since 2001, prior to which he was Secretary in 1999 and 2000. He has been heavily involved in the planning, advertising and promotion of each Annual Dinner, and coordinated his own Class of ‘59 Reunion.
Nev states that his personal priority for inclusion in our’ Two Year Plan’ is that he believes as well as maintaining the financial books in a satisfactory manner he would like to be involved in encouraging our Old Boys to support the committee in making ‘The Jack Ross Bursary Funds’ something of which we can be proud. As these funds grow they will assist the college in bringing many underprivileged children to Nudgee so they can enjoy the benefits and privileges that we experienced in our time. Another encouragement I would like to give to all old boys is for them to always ensure that their correct address, email, and phone numbers both home and mobile are up to date on our data base. This will give us a good start in organizing our class reunions as well as keeping everybody advised of news as it relates to your class or the Collage in general. |

Jim Gray (1949-52) ; President (1989-90) and Editor of Signum Fidei since July 1995 (Edition 27) has been responsible for the production of all print material of ‘Signum Fidei’ and the introduction of the use of the internet to produce the ‘Signum Fidei Website’.
In this role he has maintained ‘one on one’ communication with possibly thousands of old boys. His perceived top priority outcomes from our two year plan would be:
