Class of 1994

I have contacted most of you individually over the course of the past couple of weeks with respect to the reunion scheduled for the weekend of 14 – 16 May, 2004.

As you can appreciate, this is an extremely time consuming process contacting 250 odd students in our class of 1994. The Nudgee College Old Boys’ Association is a little concerned that we have yet to contact the majority of our class. Regrettably only a handful of students have actually contacted us so it seems without our efforts very few will know about the reunion.

Accordingly, I am enclosing a schedule of names and addresses which summarises contact details provided by the Nudgee College Old Boys’ Association. You will note that I have added an extra column indicating whether or not students have been contacted or not. I now request each of you to contact at least 10 members on the list and obtain their contact details (including phone number, address and email address). Obviously, the success of the reunion weekend will be measured by the efforts we all put in to contact members of our class prior to the event. I must therefore request your assistance in this regard. Please indicate those you wish (or have) contacted in your “reply to all”.

Most organisers of past reunions have made arrangements for the erection of a marquee at the grounds for the main event on Saturday 15 May, 2004. There will be costs involved with the hiring and erection of the marquee and therefore past organisers have made arrangements for all students to forward funds to a trust account in order to pay for miscellaneous expenses on the weekend. Of course, if it is a general consensus that a marquee is not required, then it may not be necessary for such collection. Please provide your comments in this regard.
I have also been advised by Jordan Watterson of the Nudgee College Old Boys’ Association that given recent events at previous reunions it is no longer permissible for students to bring alcohol on to the college campus. The Nudgee College Old Boys’ Association therefore provide alcohol under their general liquor licence. I believe it is therefore an offence to bring alcohol onto the premises. It was commented that numerous parents were fined up to $600.00 at various games last year by Police for bringing alcohol onto the premises and supplying such alcohol to children under the legal age.

Stuart Carlton-Smith has volunteered to make arrangements to secure venues for the Friday and Saturday evenings and the Sunday lunch. We will advise you of these venues in due course.

I would therefore propose that everyone who has capacity to contact members of our class to please (by return email) indicate at least 10 students that you will contacting so as to ensure there is no repetition. You may find that the contact details provided in the schedule are student’s parent’s details dating back to their final year in college. It is not unusual for forwarding addresses to be available.
As previously indicated, there is very little time remaining to contact students and therefore your assistance is greatly required.

Please contact me with any queries you may have.

Yours faithfully
Dan Marino
