I
think that at the age of 51-52, we all have had a lot of " life experience ".
I would certainly like to resume contact with all of my friends from 1969. I
am in General Practice at Murrumba Downs, in Northern Brisbane. I lived in Bundaberg
for 20 Years, before returning to Brisbane 5 years ago, and I just love living
back here.
I
have 4 lovely daughters, and then a great son, who went to Nudgee.
I must admit that many aspects of Nudgee life have changed since
our days, but hasn't
the
whole world. Having my son at Nudgee has certainly caused me to reflect often
and for long periods on our combined experiences at Nudgee.
Hell,
weren't some things just fantastic and some things just the pits.
I would love to reminisce with all of the Seniors of 1969 about any
of our
experiences.
Remember John Tracey's funeral, seeing Noddy naked on his bed through the
split window, Brian Boulton telling us about the hot water consumption
problems he
was experiencing as paymaster of the College (have we all been following
his legal career?), Sunday night dinner consisting of a 1 cm*1cm
square of butter
with
UNLIMITED access to 7 day old stale bread, the remoteness of the cross-country
course, which must be now in prime real estate area, ONE BUNG LUNG supervising
dinner, and carting off the occasional unfortunate adolescent for six on
each hand , given very slowly to allow for his severe Emphysema.
What
about the very decent Crows like Br. Geoghan, who faced enormous
Moral dilemmas, that resulted in leaving the Christian Brothers.
Can you imagine
the stress these
men faced? Remember Jack Ross in his little booth, the thrill and pride
of watching the first XV run onto the first oval, the sheer exhilaration
of
the following
grainy picture( not movie) presented in the Hall each Saturday night,
preceded by the "From the shores of far off Papua to ----) song!
Anyway,
enough of this sentimentality. I would love to hear from anyone for
whom any of these rambling's ring any bells
