GUITARS FOR SALE . . .
. . . Pete Murray helps out

Story Added : April 2007

The Old Boys’ Association is always looking for ways to raise money to continue to support Old Boys and Nudgee. Committee member, Jeremy Harkins proposed the following project. He suggested that as other associations sometimes sought jerseys or sporting items from sportsmen in various sports to assist in raising valuable funds, we should seize a unique opportunity by trying to obtain assistance from Peter (Pete) Murray (1986-87) who was recently named the most played musical artist on Australian Radio with his new single.

Pete aided us in obtaining hand made guitars from his contracted company Col Clarke Guitars from Melbourne and signed them for memorabilia. These guitars will be promoted through Ebay, raffles and charity dinner auctions etc. Jeremy says they are a hot item and without a doubt will attract great interest wherever they go on sale. He offers a tip to Ebay buffs.

What one critic says about Pete Murray, his music and his current status:

Autographed Guitar

Four Guitars exactly like this hand-made
‘Col Clarke’ instrument, autographed by
Pete Murray will be made available over
the next few months.
Even without Pete’s autograph they
would attract a high price.
As his popularity grows so will the value of
this limited number of instruments.

Murray has made the jump from playing tiny clubs to arenas and festivals with ease, and the things he learnt during that transition provide fuel for the new album.
First single, ‘Better Days’ and classic-in-waiting, ‘Opportunity’ capture the album’s theme of hope and optimism, anthems that wrap themselves deep inside the cortex, destined to be sung by
a chorus of thousands at Pete Murray’s shows this summer.
Mission accomplished, with positive vibrations rattling the speakers on rockers like Class A, Remedy and Trust. George’s Helper, with brass courtesy of the Hunters and Collectors horn section, reflects Murray’s love of soul music and his eagerness to keep pushing his sound into fresh territory.
