Nudgee rugby tour - First time in 20 years

Story Added : July 2006

Our Nudgee men are truly blessed to be combining two great pastimes; rugby and international travel.

For a game that began life in Britain at a private school for boys, a little like Nudgee College (The Rugby School), rugby has spread all over the world where it is cherished and loved by people in hundreds of different countries – particularly South Africa and Australia. Internationally, rugby union has established itself as one of the most popular games on the planet. It is a fact that anywhere our young men travel in their future, there will be a Rugby Club which will welcome them for a game if they are looking ‘for a run’. This is one of the many great things about “the game they play in heaven”.

Rugby Tours

At a wonderful place like Nudgee, where we are passionate about the game, it is sometimes too easy to view the GPS competition as the beginning and end of our boys’ schoolboy rugby experience. Our men will see the passion with which rugby is approached in South Africa. I have been told that when you travel in South Africa for rugby, you are welcomed like a ‘brother’. We look forward to some great African hospitality.

We must thank all who have helped us to get on tour: the Rugby Parent Support Group; individual parent fundraisers; the Chris Darcy Rugby Bursary (and particularly Mr.Paul Daly); our many sponsors and the Nudgee College Leadership Team.
