Dinner with David Lutteral - 'Luttsy'

Story Added : June 2006

Year 10 & 11 boarders attended a formal dinner on June 5, and were treated to some words of wisdom from David Lutteral, co-host of Brisbane’s Nova 106.9 Breakfast Radio Show.

Former Nudgee student, now radio personality, ‘Luttsy’ as he is known was guest speaker at the event held in Ryan Hall at the College.

After leaving Nudgee in 1993, David became a radio sports journalist, a position which saw him cover events across the globe, including World Athletics Championships, a US Tennis Open and the Sydney Olympics. He is a regular MC at major sporting events including cricket, rugby tests and the Commonwealth Games.

As a sports comedian David is known to have caused mayhem and confusion for sports stars and celebrities across the globe – and his face is recognisable on the TV shows, ‘The Fat’ and ‘110% Tony Squires’, as well as the Comedy Channel’s, ‘Thank Comedy It’s Friday’.

‘Luttsy’ is a staunch supporter of the College, speaking about the opportunity that Nudgee offers to all young men who wish to take advantage of what it offers. “I wasn’t the greatest scholar, athlete or student,” he said, “but the Nudgee network gates offered during and after school were second to none.”

He spoke passionately about the care and interest he received from the staff who worked at the College during his time, and is keen for all young Nudgee men to put something back into their Alma Mater.

“It’s a great honour to have David, and in fact any old boy, back at the College. Not only do the boys enjoy it, but the teachers also feel rewarded,” said Mr. Michael Easy, head of O’Neill Residence which caters for the Year 10 and 11 boys.
