Return of Honour Boards to Ryan Hall

The major Honour Board now located in Ryan Hall contains the following categories:

PRIESTHOOD

COLLEGE CAPTAINS
COLLEGE HEADMASTERS
AUSTRALIAN HONOURS
GPS SPORTS PREMIERSHIPS
AUSTRALIAN SPORTS REPRESENTATIVES
STATE SPORTS REPRESENTATIVES
AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLBOYS

Theses categories were chosen based upon achieving success in the following criteria;

Academic - Rhodes Scholar, Senior College Dux, Byrnes Medallist, 1st Place Queensland – Junior (to 1971)

Community & Culture - the Order of Australia to be used as the benchmark.

Religious - individuals that have entered the Priesthood & Brothers.

College - College Headmasters and College Captains.

Sport -

GPS Premierships (year & sport)
Australian Schoolboy Honours
State Senior Level (could be QLD, NSW), and
National Senior Representative Level.

PHASE 2

When the original Board was rearranged the following categories were not replaced as they did not meet the criteria.

There is good synergy amongst the categories left off the Original Board and those sport categories (above). Therefore the recommendation for Phase 2 is to create 2 new Boards as follows:

The Spare Panels on this Board present an opportunity to now include Sports such as Rowing, Volleyball and activities like Debating.

Placement of 2 Boards

There is ample wall space to position these 2 Boards. It could be one on top
of each other, as was the case before the refurbishment.

A second option is to have the Panels next to each other, either side of door
leading into the Macrossan Room.

Outcome of Recommendation

1. The QLD UNI MEDAL remains the only category not to be replaced.
2. For the 2nd Honour Board to be created, the Board currently displaying House Captains & Prefects would need to be relocated.

The remaining Honour Boards to be relocated include:

• Houses & Prefects – which lists Captains

• Parent Groups – there are listings for NCOBA Presidents, P&F Presidents, Advisory Board Chairmen, Foundation Chairmen.

• Foundation Board – which lists major donors

• Queensland Schoolboys Sports Representatives – information is split across two Boards, which could be combined onto one.
