Pleasing football results - 2005

2004 was not seen by all Nudgee Old Boys as a memorable football season - forgettable was one of the descriptors used in one of the many letters received decrying the perceived poor performance of the Ist XV of that year. What was sad about those letters was the fact that they did not recognize the success of all the other teams, nor the hundreds of boys who played their hearts out to achieve the same annual total success as in the past.

But strangely the world didn’t stop because of that performance. The sun rose again on the 2005 season. We know that winners are grinners, but sometimes failure is a good motivator.

Former Wallaby winger, David Campese in his Daily Telegraph article on June 10 heralded a new Wallaby Era by writing that...

...’second-rower, Mark Chisholm and flanker, Rocky Elsom would make their debuts in the starting test team and young Hugh McMeniman, after his first Super 12 season will have the opportunity to come off the bench.’

Congratulations to Rocky and Hugh. Nudgee’s banner is still and always will fly high.
