Mrs Maggie Shaw has had a very long association with the Christian Brothers and in particular Nudgee College. Maggie was originally employed in a part-time position in 1962 and later, with the growth of the school and staff became the first Secretary to the Principal and later became the College Registrar. Her years of service spanned from 1962 to 1998 when she retired. During this 36 year association, Maggie had a very close and warm relationship with students, parents and staff alike. Her sincerity, gracious spirit and infectious enthusiasm have characterised her time at Nudgee. Maggie served with six Christian Brother Principals and one lay Acting Principal in her last year. She has always had a great love and admiration for the Christian Brothers and many Brothers and Old Boys of the school. Parents and staff have indelible memories of Maggie Shaw that will ensure her wonderful contribution to the College will not be forgotten. To further the effectiveness and personalization of the House System at the College, it has become necessary to establish a new house. In recognition of Maggies contribution to Nudgee, the College has decided to honour her memory by naming this Shaw House. The Nudgee College Old Boys Association strongly support this recognition and in offering their congratulations to Maggie also express their thanks for her assistance and support during her time at Nudgee. |
