Tom Moran (1939-41) who now lives in Narrabeen, NSW wrote in response to receiving an invitation to attended Anzac Day ceremony at Nudgee...Thank you for the invitation to attend the College’s Anzac Day commemorative ceremony. Due to the distances involved and health problems, I will not be attending this function. I had actually left Nudgee prior to this particular day in history to take up a position with the Forestry Department at Kalpower – near Monto. However, my brother Max (dec’d) was at Nudgee at that time. The event was deeply embedded in my mind and probably had a forcing influence on me to join the Navy the following year. I congratulate the NCOBA for organising this event which recognizes such a unique event in our history as a nation. I wish all of the Sub-Senior 1941 and Senior 1942 my best wishes. PS. Next time you have a reunion in Sydney, please have it at a more reasonable venue for example, one of our many Clubs. Kevin Ryan for one, would agree. |
