Gavin Ralston (1956-57) wrote seeking information of school mates and planned reunions…

Firstly, thanks for your welcoming phone call and secondly thanks for adding me to the mailing list. I also had contact with Michael Walby's wife who rang to tell me that if I was in Brisbane to call to see them. Unfortunately I wasn’t.

I am curious - when we spoke you gave me all sorts of information about my classmates but when I trawled the site, the class of '57 has no entry. Am I missing something? Since its only a couple of years till our 50th I wonder how many we might meet at the reunion i.e. how many are no longer with us?

When we spoke, you told me that Kevin Livingston who was my best friend but who disappeared from my life, without warning, has died. I wonder if you have any contact information on Justin, his younger brother (2 years younger I think) so I might try to fill in the gaps via him.

I know that Warren Winkler is still a resident of Maryborough. Do you happen to have an email address for him? It's 50 years since we finished at the Maryborough Christian Brothers High School and I would like to try, via him, to make contact with some of our classmates. He may know where they are. Sadly the school is now defunct and my previous enquiries went unanswered.

Should there be any collective old boy action in Sydney, I guess I would hear about it and I would be delighted to be involved. There must be a few of us condemned to living down here.

Editor’s Note: This letter gives some idea why we are spending so much time and money keeping our database current and accurate. From our records we are able to deduce that Gavin together with Warren Winkler came to Nudgee in 1956 after completing Junior at Maryborough Christian Brothers. Keith Livingston about whom Gavin made enquiries attended the College in 1956 and ’57 and died on 16.08.78. At that time he was living in Alfredton in Victoria.

Gavin’s request for information about Justin Livingston (1957-59) can also be supplied because we know from our records that Justin is a Doctor who lived in London and now has an address in Brisbane. This information as well as the address of Warren Winkler who does live in Maryborough has been passed on to Gavin.

We provide this type of support for all who request it, but we can do this only if our records are accurate. Their accuracy depends on Executive Members being vigilant in scanning newspapers etc., but more particularly by Old Boys advising us of changes not only in their address but their career or family conditions.

All reunion information is advertised in the first edition of Signum Fidei each year with reminders following monthly on our web site. More specific information is presented in each subsequent edition of our magazine. Hence the necessity for our database of addresses to be correct.
