WILLIAM (BILL) COLIN MOLONEY
Born: May 14, 1929 - Died: February 6, 2008

Our LadyHis father Colin and mother Martha (nee Davidson from Gympie) lived and managed Darriveen Station Longreach until, in 1935, they purchased and lived at Yarraman Station, Longreach.

Bill was a man of Western Queensland and loved the country life and the land. He did his primary correspondence schooling at neighbouring Darr River Downs and in 1940 with his four brothers he went to St Brendan's Yeppoon, which was the first in-take of students. Then in 1942 he went on to Nudgee College.

In the 1950's he rode as a jockey for the Moloney's and for various others in Longreach, Muttaburra, Winton, Barcaldine, Townsville and Rockhampton and in 1958 he was a founding member and player of the Longreach Polo Crosse Club.

He married and moved to Yarraman Station, Longreach, which remained his family home until retirement. He had met his loving wife Jennifer-Anne Healy in February 1960 and they were married on August 13th 1960. He is survived by his wife, and children; Michael, Michelle, Gordon, Mark, Matthew and Madalaine. He has 15 grandchildren.

He was a gentle man and he had a presence which was calming and friendly. He was a devoted husband and soul mate to our mum. In some sacred moments of sharing with him in these last weeks he said that his family was the most important thing in his life. He was a man who was humble in his own way and wasn't into making the limelight his goal. It is a lesson I think that he has passed on to us in how to be humble and how to think of others rather than ourselves. In the words of the prophet Isaiah he was an upright man and he was a man of faith and his soul longed for God ... because he set his hope in God. This is how he lived his life as a man of faith whom he loved.

Over the past four years, Dad has lived at the Pioneers Home, Longreach. He died there peacefully surrounded by family on February 6. He was loved and cared for by many and he also touched them with his smile and gentleness. Thank you to the staff and friends of the Pioneers Home. Your ongoing care for the many others who have made their home there will be a continuation of the living God being made present and lived out in the care that you give

As his son and as a priest. it was a sacred privilege and honour to share with those who were able, the Vigil, Requiem Mass and burial for Dad. For the many thoughts, phone calls, and prayers offered throughout the Diocese of Rockhampton, and beyond; from friends parishioners and brother priests for Dad and our family, thank you.

Eternal rest grant unto him 0 Lord - and may perpetual light shine upon him - and may our dad and friend rest in peace, Amen.
