Adding a Memorial Component to the Old Boys’ Mall
Old Boys will be aware that the Mall outside the Chapel is now defined as the Old Boys’ Mall. We are considering utilizing this space to remember deceased Old Boys.
We propose to make available brass plaques to be mounted around the inside walls of the Mall. These plaques would be approximately 23cm x 13cm or 9”x 5” and would carry four (4) lines of text.
The top line of text - larger than the remaining three - would have the Old Boy’s name recorded in upper case. Line 2 would contain the date of birth and the date of death. The third line would list the years at Nudgee and the fourth would be available for a short phrase relating to the person or a quote of some special verse or text. In the top left hand corner the Nudgee Old Boy’s Crest would be displayed.
The Principal, Mr Daryl Hanly supports the NCOBA in this venture. The costs are being negotiated at present but will be very reasonable. We are seeking expressions of interest and will have photographs of a sample presentation available for those seeking more information.
If sufficient interest is indicated, we would envisage launching and a blessing of the first group of plaques to take place at this year’s Annual Memorial Mass – Dec 1st 2007.
