Special Appeal Information

President Tony Behm published a very special letter to all Old Boys in Signum Fidei, Edition 64. I will not repeat the information contained in that letter, but will remind you of its importance.

Thanks to the generosity of some seventy Old Boys, in excess of $15,000.00 has been subscribed. We are extremely grateful to these donors.

We suspect a lot of Old Boys have either underestimated the urgent importance of this appeal or have simply forgotten to take action. We know that a number of the Old Boys with whom we have spoken have indicated that they have simply forgotten to respond. Another group has indicated that as they will be attending one of the upcoming reunions they will make their donation whilst attending this function. Still others have said that they will make this donation whilst attending one of the ‘Home Football’ matches at the College.

To accommodate these expressions of assistance, we will have Old Boys present at these matches to accept donations and issue appropriate receipts. We will also remind Old Boys attending our various reunions to respond to this appeal which will be outlined by the reunion organizers.

If you haven’t responded yet – we urge you to do so now, using either this link < Special Appeal Donation> or use the tear-off section contained in Edition 64 – Signum Fidei.

Changes to Signum Fidei and our website
Edition 64, our only print edition for 2007 has been mailed to all Old Boys and contains information concerning every function, be it Reunion, Memorial Mass etc. planned for 2007.

We will continue to produce website updates such as this one throughout the year to remind Old Boys of forthcoming events or changed arrangements and to advise by email when these updates are filed.

Items to be presented in our next update include:

  • Details re-last Pete Murray Guitar Sale
  • Costs and method of ordering Memorial Plagues
  • Financial Statement of NCOBA/AGM/2007
  • Allegria Report
  • Old Boy Wedding Story: Ernasto & AlexandraTubaro
  • More Reunion reminders and reports

Specific details concerning changes to Management Structure

In the report of our Annual General Meeting – Edition 64 (Print Edition) you would have seen the list of all those elected and added to what we term our ‘Expanded Committee’. We have defined a Management Committee within the Executive Committee. This will include the Regional Representatives who will become links to a wide group of clusters or regions. Invitations are being forwarded to Old Boys to assume these positions and as well we would welcome expressions of interest from any others to join these Regional Representatives. A listing of those who have accepted these positions will be included in the next website update.

The smaller Management Committee will meet between Executive Meetings to handle routine items leaving the Executive free to engage in more ‘in depth’ discussions concerning future directions and long term planning while the Regional Representatives will become contacts in selected areas. They will be provided with draft minutes of our meetings, information concerning past and future activities, so that they may communicate this to Old Boys in their area, thus providing feedback in terms of general reaction to proposals or changes.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

We think we may have found an Old Boy about whom a request for information was made in Edition 64.

Di Lourigan, mother of an Old Boy wrote the following Email…

Recently I was reading my son, Andrew Lourigan’s Signum Fidei. Andrew attended Nudgee in 1997-01. I noted a letter from Malcolm Marshall re Milton Sando. I think he could be the same Milton Sando (Sandow) I met in Penang in 1972 when my husband was serving in the RAAF.

We was playing for the Panthers in a RAAF Rugby League competition and was one of the more prominent players. He was married and although we have never been in contact, Malcolm may have success in tracing his whereabouts by contacting Defense Records

Ed Note:
Thanks to Di for this information and we hope it is the same Old Boy Malcolm was attempting to locate. This response however illustrates just how vital it is that we keep our records up to date – something we can only achieve with the support of all Old Boys and their families.
